Terms of Service

Who you're dealing with
Sprung Trapline (sprungtrapline.com and the app) is run by SprungTrapline, based in Nova Scotia, Canada ("we", "us"). When you create an account or use the service, your agreement is with SprungTrapline. By continuing to use the service you agree to these terms. Questions: hello@sprungtrapline.com.
The service and plans
Sprung Trapline is a map and record-keeping tool for trappers: sets, lines, property boundaries, a catch log, reports and crew sharing.
- Free: the map, sets, lines, properties, catch log, season totals and CSV export, at no cost.
- Pro: adds offline map areas, photo species ID, the PDF season report and wind and weather. Billed monthly, or as one payment for the season.
- Crew: one payment per season. The line owner can invite up to 5 crew, who get the Pro tools while they're on that line.
Current prices are on the pricing page. You must be of legal age where you live to buy a plan, or have a parent or guardian's permission. If you use the service for a business, you confirm you can bind that business to these terms.
Payments, billing and cancelling
Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Paddle provides all customer service inquiries and handles returns.
- Monthly: Pro monthly renews each month until you cancel. You can cancel any time from the Plan page in your account, and you keep Pro until the end of the month you've paid for.
- Per season: Pro season and Crew are one payment for the trapping season (July 1 to June 30). They don't renew on their own, so there's nothing to cancel.
Payment, billing, taxes, cancellations and refunds are also covered by Paddle's Buyer Terms. See our refund policy for the 30-day money-back guarantee.
Your responsibilities in the field
Sprung Trapline is a record-keeping aid. You stay responsible for:
- following the trapping regulations, seasons and bag limits where you trap;
- holding the licences and permits you need;
- getting landowner permission before you set on anyone's land;
- identifying every animal correctly and legally before you log, sell or report it.
Photo species ID is a suggestion only. It can be wrong. You're responsible for confirming the species before logging or selling.
Maps and measurements are approximate. Property outlines, acreage, line miles, set locations and weather are estimates. They are not a legal survey and don't show legal boundaries, rights of way or where trapping is allowed.
Your account
- Keep your sign-in details private. You're responsible for activity under your account.
- Give accurate information and keep it up to date.
Acceptable use
You must not misuse the service. That includes:
- using it for anything unlawful, including trapping without the permits or permission you need;
- fraud, spam or impersonating others;
- infringing anyone's intellectual property or uploading content you don't have rights to;
- interfering with the service's security, including spreading malware, probing for weaknesses, or scraping or bulk-downloading data;
- reverse engineering the app, reselling it, or getting around its plan limits.
Your content
Your sets, lines, properties, catch records and photos stay yours. You give us a limited licence to store and process them only to run the service for you and the crew you invite. We never sell them or share them for advertising. See the Privacy Policy.
Our intellectual property
SprungTrapline owns the service and everything in it: the software, design, documentation and the Sprung Trapline name and branding. We give you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the service within your plan.
Provided as-is
We work hard to keep Sprung Trapline running and your data safe, but the service is provided "as is" and "as available". We don't guarantee it will be uninterrupted, error-free or available when you have no signal beyond what you've saved to your phone. To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim implied warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose.
Liability
To the extent the law allows, SprungTrapline isn't liable for indirect or consequential losses (such as lost profits, lost data, lost catches, fines or penalties), and our total liability is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing here limits liability that can't be limited by law, such as for fraud, death or personal injury caused by negligence.
Suspension and termination
We may suspend or close an account for a serious or repeated breach of these terms, non-payment, or a security or fraud risk. You can stop using the service and ask us to delete your account at any time. When an account is closed you can ask for a copy of your data within 30 days, after which it is deleted.
General
These terms are governed by the laws of Nova Scotia and the federal laws of Canada that apply there, and disputes go to the courts of Nova Scotia. We may update these terms; if a change is significant we'll tell you in the app or by email. Questions? hello@sprungtrapline.com.
